happy 2010

Hello 2010! I’ve been waiting for you and am so excited you are finally here. I’ve made several resolutions this year, including growing Too Many Suitors AND posting on this blog at least every Monday of the new year. So, let’s kick off the year right with a post and some new art. I really want to make an alphabet or monograms with cute and kid-friendly creatures. Any ideas, anyone?

It might be dreary outside,

but it’s happy springtime in my world!

Just when you think things are bad, something unexpected and extremely awesome happens.

OK. So, I’ll admit it. I sent a big ol’ box of Too Many Suitors merch to the Flight of the Conchords. And every once and a while I check Flickr to see if I can find one of them wearing one of my shirts. And although that has yet to happen… I did find one of my shirts onstage with Bret and Jemaine during their recent tour stop in Philadelphia! *I’m shocked and amazed!!!* Nigel Collins of the Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra rocked my Lady Owl shirt! See the proof below! Exclamation!!!! Isn’t life wonderful?!?

A little peek of a familiar shirt. Nigel seems happy to be wearing it, Jemaine seems smitten.

Wha, wha?!?! That is my shirt!

“Why yes, I do look sharp.”

“Your beard looks good, but your shirt looks better.” (At least that’s what I imagined Jemaine saying)

Please Vote for Me

So the economy is what it is and I might not be able to afford printing a 6 color tee shirt, BUT threadless can! I designed this shirt because I am bored of the Minnesota Winter and am dreaming of Spring. Could you do me a favor and please vote for me? Thanks, you’re awesome.

UPDATED: Voting ended! And I didn’t win, oh well…

Graphic Study #01: The Great-Horned Owl

Playing around in Illustrator while I wait for a project at work. Yes, this is how I spent part of my Tuesday. Not sure what to do with this, yet.

A little ditty that I did a while back. I’m trying to illustrate more and I’ve been really inspired by 60s illustration. There’s a real surge in that aesthetic right now, but I found one of the original illustrators of the time and he’s still selling his work online. I’ll do a post on him real soon.

A single tear

Sometimes I find myself creating things that I’m not even sure why I created them. Including this sad giraffe.
